ASEM Day: Philippines

STATEMENT ON THE ASIA-EUROPE MEETING (ASEM) DAY by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)

 09 March 2017 – The Philippines, as a founding member of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), extends its warm greetings to all 53 ASEM partners from Asia and Europe on the occasion of ASEM Day on March 01.

The Philippines reiterates its sincere commitment to work closely with Asian and European partners in order to strengthen the relationship between the two regions, in the spirit of mutual respect and equal partnership.

The Philippines is also pleased to accept the role of ASEAN sub-group coordinator in ASEM for the term 2017-2018. As both ASEAN Chair and ASEM Coordinator for ASEAN this year, the Philippines looks forward to enhancing its cooperation with all ASEM members as partners for change.
