ASEM-DUO Fellowship Programme

The ASEM-DUO Fellowship Programme is an educational exchange initiative that was proposed by Korea, France and Singapore and endorsed at the ASEM 3 Summit in Seoul in October 2000, officially commencing in 2001 to promote “balanced mobility” between Asia and Europe. Operating under the umbrella of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), its defining feature is the “pair” (or duo) requirement: for every student or professor moving from an Asian institution to a European one, a corresponding individual must travel in the opposite direction between the same two partner universities. This reciprocal model ensures a two-way flow of academic talent, helping to solidify long-term institutional partnerships and cultural ties. These grants are generally available across nearly all academic disciplines, provided a formal cooperation agreement exists between the participating institutions.
