With the approval of 10th ASEM Summit in 2014, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) held the 1st ASEM Conference on Global Ageing and Human Rights of Older Persons in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 26-28 October 2015 in Seoul, Korea.

The conference aimed to share best practices of legislation and policy of nations and efforts of governments for promotion and protection of human rights of older persons, identify key elements of the legislation and policy to protect human rights of older persons, and consider measures for cooperation among countries in Asia and Europe and international institutions for promotion of human rights of older persons.

The conference provided a series of interactive sessions, keynote addresses and general panel discussion designed to seek for the efficient means to enhance the human rights of older persons with the participation of ASEM Members and related field experts.
