The Seminar is held to discuss on-going ASEM cooperative projects and development of new cooperation among ASEM member countries

The ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC) and Ministry of SMEs and Start-ups (MSS) of the Republic of Korea in cooperation with LUXINNOVATION and Ministry of Economy in Luxembourg cordially invited delegates from 53 ASEM Partners to the 6th ASEM Working Group (WG) Seminar on SMEs Eco-Innovation Competence, which was held on 11-12 Sep 2018 in Luxembourg, Luxembourg. The Seminar was held to discuss on-going ASEM cooperative projects and development of new cooperation among ASEM member countries.

In order to carry out the mandate of SMEs eco-innovation competence which is aimed at strengthening the common ground to support SMEs among participating countries toward sustainable growth, the Seminar had been endorsed at the 11th ASEM Summit (ASEM11) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Following consecutive round-table discussions and constant analyses of the needs and expectations of member countries throughout the prior WG Seminars, seven project ideas under three main topics were generated and had been endorsed at ASEM11 as one of ASEM activities for 2016-2018 as follows.

  1. Developing Training on Eco-Innovation for SMEs : On/off-line training program
  2. Eco-Innovation Advisory Services for SMEs Cooperation: online information of eco-innovation, business-to-business, and eco-innovation consulting services
  3. Eco-Innovation Capacity Building for the Governments: Foresight of eco-innovation, green deal and global recognition of ETV.

These WG-driven projects have been piloted since 2017 and discussed for the 6th Working Group Seminar and served its role in reviewing what ASEIC have done so far together and generating new plans to be implemented in 2019-2020.

The event expected the participation of a delegate from an ASEM Partner country interested in cooperation with other members in facilitating eco-innovation of SMEs in the context of ASEM.
