Since the inception of the ASEM Interfaith Dialogue back in 2005, successive editions have provided a framework in which Government representatives; policy makers, scholars and religious leaders have exchanged views on religious, social and cultural issues in the spirit of respect, mutual tolerance and understanding.

The 7th ASEM Interfaith Dialogue had the theme, Harnessing the Benefits and Addressing the Challenges of Migration through Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue. The 7th ASEM IFD built on the 6th and 5th ASEM IFDs, by carrying on and further enriching the discussion on some issues highlighted in both dialogues.

The ASEM-IFD7 was hosted by the Philippines, the European Union, and Finland.
