The ASEM Conference on Green Skills for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth – a joint initiative by China, Cyprus, Italy, Laos, Romania, Switzerland and Viet Nam, was organized in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, on 27-28 October 2016. The event was endorsed by ASEM Leaders at the 10th ASEM Summit held in Milan in October 2014.

The two-day Conference provided a platform for ASEM deliberations on pathways towards inclusive growth to reinforce the links between skills development, knowledge needs and sustainable growth; to assess the role of various factors in promoting green skills for inclusive and sustainable growth in Asia and Europe and beyond; to identify the policies needed at national, regional and global level to support the transition to a strong and sustainable green economy; to accelerate the shift of labor markets to greener employment in Asia and Europe and to provide recommendations to promote green skills development within ASEM.

The Conference gathered about 100 participants, including ASEM government officials, researchers, experts, and representatives from the International Labour Organisation(ILO),International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) Asia-Pacific/Asia- Europe Labour Forum, German Society for International Coorperation (GIZ).
