The Intermediate Senior Officials Meeting (ISOM) took place on 24-25 November 2022 in Malta.

Experts from the Ministries of Education and various stakeholders contributed to enriching the ASEM Education Process by sharing their knowledge and expertise. ISOM Participants were involved in three dynamic workshops focused on Long-life Learning, Sustainable Development Goals, Ethics, and Transparency. During this interregional meeting, the structure of the ASEM Work Plan for 2022-2026 was approved and new Expert Groups were established jointly.

The ISOM22 was a great occasion for ASEM Members to meet each other in person after the COVID-19 pandemic, feel the synergies and build even stronger ties between them. It contributed to fostering the intergovernmental forum for dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe and strengthening the ASEM Education Process.

Ministerial meetings are prepared by the Intermediate Senior Officials Meetings (ISOM) and two Senior Officials Meetings (SOMs) during which senior officials and stakeholders discuss the policy orientation of the ASEM Education Process, as well as existing and potential future projects, initiatives, and activities.

The ASEM Education Secretariat (AES) supported the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), Government of Malta, in organising the meeting.
