During the Fourth Asia-Europe meeting of Ministers for Education (ASEMME4) in Kuala Lumpur in May 2013, it has been agreed that there is a need for a strategy on better balancing mobility and the importance of a documentation of good practice in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). These strategies will strengthen the Asia-Europe Education Process, and shape the ASEM Education Area on the basis of mutual respect and benfit, thus contributing to the overall dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe in the political, economic and socio-cultural fields, as reaffirmed by the ASEM Leaders during their Summit in Vientiane on 5 and 6 November 2012.
Two seminars, namely, ASEM International Seminar on Lifelong Learning and ASEM International Seminar on Balanced Mobility were held concurrently on 25 and 26 August 2014 in Putra World Trade Center (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur.
Organised by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the two seminars provided opportunities ot Asian and European higher education institutions, experts and stakeholders a platform to present and share recent developmets in lifelong learning and balanced mobility of the two regions, and to discuss different approaches in building successful strategy and collaboration.
