ASEM info Board - Asia-Europe Meeting

Waste-water management and sanitation are issues that are salient to countries in Europe and Asia. European countries have expertise in municipal waste-water management and have found innovative ways to recycle waste in order to advance their environmental goals. At the same time, Asian countries are striving to improve their practices to align themselves more closely to the Millennium Development Goals. Asia and Europe can work together in concrete ways to raise the standards of waste-water management and sanitation in our countries, and give these global challenges the attention that they deserve.

Objectives

The main purposes of the ASEM Seminar on Waste-water Management are to:

  1. share technical expertise and solutions in waste-water management and sanitation; and
  2. foster Asia-Europe cooperation.

The seminar provided a platform for an exchange of views and experiences on best practices amongst relevant policymakers and operational experts from governments, international organisations, and industry. This is a first step towards practical collaboration in the future.
