Finland is set to increase border security ahead of a meeting of Asian and European heads of state and governments (ASEM) in Helsinki in September, Finland's interior ministry said on Aug. 24. While there is no specific threat, the ministry said, border checks will be made between August 25 and September 12. The meeting will be held on September 10-11.

European countries are on high levels of alert after British police this month foiled a suspected plot to blow up airlines flying between London and the U.S.

Twenty five EU member states, the European Commission and thirteen Asian countries participate in the ASEM process.
